Board members from ateb Group recently toured a number of our homes and communities across Pembrokeshire. From established estates to newer developments and independent living accommodation, the tour offered a valuable opportunity to connect directly with team members and customers – and to see our purpose in action.
The Board were led by members of our Executive Management Team and were joined by Ceri, our Head of Corporate Services, Jayne O’Hara Head of West Wales Care and Repair, and Allyn, our Senior Property Investment Manager. Allyn was keen to showcase some of our recently retrofitted homes, which are not only helping reduce energy costs for customers but also contributing towards our environmental net zero goals.
The Board were full of praise for the innovative work being carried out and were particularly impressed by Allyn’s passion for sustainability and the practical impact of our retrofit programme.
One of our Board members, Nisha, shared her reflections on the visit:
“It was ateb’s mission – creating better living solutions for the people and communities of West Wales that resonated with me most. The words on ateb’s website truly came to life during the visit. The interactions with key staff members and residents made ateb’s mission feel real, solidifying it not just as an aspiration, but as something the team truly delivers on. Congratulations, team!”
These visits offer Board members vital insight into the lived experience of customers, the work of our teams, and the strategic and operational challenges and successes we navigate.
“This experience provides me with perspective on prioritising what truly matters, from strategic delivery through to operational implementation,” Nisha added. “It reinforces my commitment to the focus we are establishing at the Board: achieving higher standards of delivery and fostering an organisational culture where everyone matters.”
Meeting customers and seeing the spaces they call home was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
“You are not providing a house, but a home,” Nisha said. “What I’ve witnessed today unequivocally demonstrates the rewarding nature of your work. You instil a crucial sense of security and safety, and diligently ensure that our homes remain nurturing environments rather than just concrete spaces. Thank you.”
To our customers, Nisha offered this message:
“We extend our gratitude for your trust in the team. Please continue to support them as they strive under challenging circumstances to deliver enhanced living solutions. Your feedback is invaluable, and we hope some of you will consider joining our customer committee to help shape the future of our services.”
We’re incredibly proud of our homes, our communities, and the team members who bring them to life – and we’re grateful to our Board for taking the time to experience the impact of our work first hand.
