Creating space for honest conversations about menopause

Menopause is something many people still feel uncomfortable talking about. Too often, it’s discussed quietly – or not at all. At ateb, we want to help change that.

Recently, we teamed up with Heidi from Positive Thinking to deliver a series of menopause awareness workshops for team members and line managers. The sessions focused on raising awareness, encouraging open conversations, and exploring the support that can make a real difference in the workplace.

The workshops created a welcoming and supportive space for women experiencing different stages of perimenopause and menopause to share experiences, learn more about the changes they may be facing, and hear from others going through similar journeys.

The sessions also supported line managers to better understand menopause and the importance of creating supportive, informed workplaces where people feel listened to and valued.

This work forms part of our Team Commitment and our ongoing focus on creating the right culture for our teams to thrive.

One team member who attended described the workshops as valuable, empowering, and emotional at times, saying the sessions encouraged her to make positive changes for herself moving forward.

Heidi, who led the workshops, said:

“There was a strong level of engagement throughout, with participants contributing openly to discussions, reflecting on their own experiences, and supporting one another in a respectful and empowering way.

“My aim was to educate and empower women while creating a safe space for honest conversation around menopause. It was particularly encouraging to see participants feeling able to explore and share their experiences openly.

“These conversations helped to normalise the menopause journey and reduce feelings of isolation or stigma that can sometimes exist around the topic.

“Overall, the workshop increased awareness, understanding, and confidence, while also highlighting the importance of supportive and informed workplaces.”

By opening up conversations around menopause, we hope to continue building a culture where people feel comfortable asking for support, sharing experiences, and knowing they are not alone.
