The Independent Living Team recently welcomed potential customers to an Open Day at Kensington Court, giving them the opportunity to experience first-hand what life is like in one of ateb’s Extra Care communities.

Around 180 people on the Choice Homes Lettings list, who had expressed an interest in Extra Care housing, were invited to attend. Throughout the day, visitors were able to explore the scheme, view the excellent communal facilities, meet the team and discover more about the support and independence that Kensington Court offers.

One of the highlights of the day came from three existing customers, who kindly opened the doors to their own homes. By showing visitors around their furnished flats, they helped bring the accommodation to life and gave potential customers a much clearer picture of how their future home could look.

Visitors also had the opportunity to complete a needs assessment with members of the Independent Living Team. These conversations help ensure customers are matched with the right home at the right time, to meet that individual’s needs.

“The Open Day was a really positive experience. It was wonderful to meet so many new people and have the chance to show them what makes Kensington Court such a special place to live. Seeing our current customers proudly sharing their homes and talking about the friendships they’ve built here was fantastic. The feedback we received throughout the day was incredibly encouraging, and we’re looking forward to welcoming many of our visitors back again in the future.”

Visitors were full of praise for both the facilities and the friendly atmosphere, with comments including:

• “I can’t wait until I can join the community at Kensington Court. If I could come tomorrow, I would.”
• “The facilities you have on offer are immaculate.”
• “I was unsure what to expect from today, but I am impressed. The flats are a really good size, and the food provision will make my life so much easier. It’s great to see a well-maintained building and a community that look so happy to live here.”
• “Having a landlord representative on site to go to if there is a problem is reassuring.”
