If you tell us you may hurt yourself
If you contact ateb and tell us that you may hurt yourself, end your life, or that you do not feel safe, we will take this seriously.
Our staff will listen, stay calm, and try to understand whether you are in immediate danger. If we believe there is a risk to your life or safety, we may contact emergency services or share information with relevant support services to help keep you safe.
Our staff are not mental health clinicians, but they are trained to recognise safeguarding concerns and escalate them appropriately.
We may ask you direct questions, such as where you are, whether you are alone, and whether you have already harmed yourself or have something nearby that could be used to hurt yourself.
If you are in immediate danger, please call 999.

Confidentiality and your safety
We respect your privacy and will not share personal information unless there is a clear reason to do so.
However, in an emergency, data protection law allows information to be shared where it is needed to protect someone’s life or prevent serious harm. This could include us calling 999 and sharing relevant information, such as your name, D.O.B, contact details, location and the concerns you have raised with us.
