2026 ateb Group Rent Review: letters on their way

Every year, we review our rents and service charges to make sure we can continue to deliver good-quality, value-for-money services for our customers.

Letters explaining your rent and service charges for the year ahead will be sent out in the week commencing Monday 26th January 2026 and should arrive with you by the end of that week.

This year’s review brings a mixed picture.

Service Charges

The good news is that more than half of homes will see no increase, or a decrease, in their service charges from 1 April 2026, which we know will be welcome news for many customers. However, we are also aware that some customers will see higher increases.

Rent

Almost all customers will see their rent increase by 4.3% from 1st April 2026. There may be lower or higher increases for a very small number, particularly if you lease your home from ateb.

We understand that any increase can be worrying, especially with the ongoing cost of living pressures. That’s why ateb has a range of support options available for customers who may be struggling.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to talk through what this means for you, please get in touch with us. You can email [email protected] or call us on 0800 854 568. Our team is here to help.

Do I need to do anything?

If you currently pay by Direct Debit your Housing Coordinator will be in touch by letter to let you know your new direct debit amount.

If you have arrears on your account then your Housing Coordinator will call you to discuss a payment plan.

Universal Credit

If you currently have help to pay your rent through Universal Credit you should receive a prompt on you Universal Credit account asking you to check your rent amount. Please keep your letter safe as you will need the information (rent and service charges) to update your account.

If you don’t do this you are at risk of falling behind on your rent payments / or losing income.

Housing Benefit customers

If you are still on Housing Benefit we will let the local authority know your new rent amount.

If you haven’t received a letter from your council letting you know what your entitlement is for Housing Benefit by the end of April 2026 we recommend you get in touch with your council.
