Community WiFi

Community WiFi provided by ateb and funded by The National Lottery is now live in three areas – Maes y Mor in Solva, Middlehill in Saundersfoot and Parc Maen Hir in Letterston. What’s even better… it’s now completely FREE!

Access to the internet is arguably a necessity in modern life and at ateb we wanted to do something to help our communities get online. Our new Public Community WiFi scheme will help our tenants in our WiFi available zones to  ‘get online’ using our completely free system – perfect if you are living on a tight budget or are a light or medium internet user.

How it works?

In our 3 selected areas, we have installed BT Business Super-Fast Broadband along with an omni directional aerial and several Wireless Access Points. This is the same set up hotels or caravan parks would use.

Tenants, guests, visitors can then connect to the WiFi, accepting our terms and conditions, using the internet completely free of charge.

Speeds are limited to 5mb per connected device to ensure consistency across the network but this is more than enough to watch a film in HD. Your device will remember you for three days before you have to accept our terms and conditions again, this should only take a few seconds.

How long will it be free?

The service will be free until the Lottery Funding ends 31st March 2020. We will review the service and its usage prior to its end date, making a decision on what we do next.

The signal isn’t strong in all areas of my home

No problem, we have wireless access points that we can loan to you that will boost the signal all throughout your home. These are better than your high street boosters and we would suggest, if you would like to use our system at home instead of your own broadband connection that you borrow one of these.

Can I use it instead of having my own landline and broadband?

Yes – absolutely. The purpose of these systems is to help our tenants save money. Whilst we can’t guarantee its availability (things can go wrong) we will always try to fix it as soon as possible.

This is a great way to save money, and get online!
