Community WiFi provided by ateb and funded by the National Lottery is now live in two areas and we are hoping to roll it out to several more by the summer of 2019.
Access to the internet is arguably a necessity in modern life and at ateb we wanted to do something to help our communities get online. Our new Community WiFi scheme will help our tenants in our WiFi available zones to ‘get online’ using our low cost, no contract system – perfect if you are living on a tight budget or are a light or medium internet user.
How it works?
In our selected streets we install BT Business Super-Fast Broadband along with an omni directional aerial and several Wireless Access Points. This is the same set up hotels or caravan parks would use.
Tenants living within the WiFi zone can then connect to the WiFi for either £3 per week or £11 per month or £100 per year. There are no long term contracts and download limits, although speeds will be limited to 5mb per connection to ensure consistency across the network (enough to watch a film in HD).
Our £3 voucher is valid for up to 3 devices and our £11 voucher is valid for 4 devices.
Payment is made by connecting a device to the ateb Community WiFi signal, opening your internet browser and signing up on a welcome page. You will need a bank or credit card to make the payment and will be given a voucher code once the payment is made. You can then use that voucher code to sign in on the devices you wish to use.
